I'm waffling between two and four stars. If I rated it on the erotica only, I'd give it four stars. If I rated it on the dialogue and plot, it'd be two. Decisions, decisions. Maybe I'll have made up my mind by the time I type all this up. The Characters: Lacey is an ER nurse and is in love with her brother's best friends, Mason and Tyler (they're all cops). Mason and Ty live together and are lovers, often bringing in a woman to round out the fun. Mason is terrified of being thought of as gay, so I'm waffling between two and four stars. Mason is terrified of being thought of as gay, so even though he's with Ty, he isn't WITH him and anyone who says different gets a napalm enema. Ty has been in love with Mason since they were teenagers and both Mason and Ty have been in love with Lacey since she hit puberty. They've always known that she would be "theirs" but they've taken their sweet time getting around to letting her know, going so far as to gently brush her off when she tells them she wants to be with them. The Plot: The brother is killed and Mason and Ty comfort Lacey the only way she wants comfort: mind-blowing menage ahoy! Mason is still terrified of anyone finding out that he doesn't just share women with Ty, they actually have quite a bit of fun on their own too. After much angst and trial and error, blahdy blah, they decide to give the threesome relationship a try. But someone is coming after Lacey now, making strange phone calls, infecting her computer with a virus, drugging her coffee so that she falls asleep at the wheel and almost dies. Oh noes! Mason and Ty, super cops that they are, are going to get to the bottom of this and solve not only the brother's murder, but the plot against Lacey as well, all while not bothering to actually show up at work since they can't seem to stop having Teh Sex. Still with me? It's okay, I wouldn't be either if I were you. The Good: The smut. There were some really hot m/f, m/m, m/f/m, m/m/f scenes in here. And considering those took up about 90% of the book, maybe I should give it a four star rating after all. More good stuff was the depth of emotion between the characters. These people have been in love with each other for almost ten years. There's some powerful lust and unrequited shit going on here. While the emotion wasn't shown as well as it could have been, it was done better than your average erotica. The Bad: The whole murder plot, the villain and the resolution. The sad part is, it really could have been good. But it was like the author gave herself ten pages to bang out (har har) an entire mystery novella. That never works. The attempts at misdirection were frankly laughable and had me rolling my eyes and the baddie didn't come off quite the way the author wanted. Instead of being wowed by crazy, I huffed out sigh, rolled my eyes again, and slogged through the last few pages, not really caring about any of it. More Bad: OMG, the dialogue. I was getting ready to scratch my own eyes out if I had to read one more "little one", "doll" or screaming out "Love you!" during coitus. I get it. She's tiny. Mason's the Hulk and Ty is the tall god of luuuuurve. I don't care. Call her by her damn name or get a better pet name. Also, I don't mind some smexy dirty talk during the hot monkey boom boom. But most of this was just laughable. And the last scene? Totally didn't fit for me. It felt forced. Not gonna say what it was, but it was totally pasted on for no other reason than to try and force an "Awwww" out of me. Didn't work. I gave an "Ugh" instead. My Judgment: Three stars. If it weren't for the overused pet names and cringe-worthy boom boom dirty talk and terrible attempt at a villain, I could have let the rest of the smut bump this up to four. But the problems plagued me too much. I know several friends won't be reading this simply because of Teh Gay and Teh Backdoor Play, but if you like that, give this a try. Just don't expect too all much from the actual plot.

I am a lover of ménage stories and after reading some reviews by my GR friends on Night is Darkest, the 1st book in Jayne Rylon’s Men in Blue Series, I was eager to read it. I have to be honest – after a few chapters I began skimming quite a lot of pages. The storyline is about two men, who are in a relationship together (which was one of the things I liked), who are attracted to a woman and want to share her. They need to protect her from a stalker……okay, the stalker plot….not much happens there. I just could not connect with the three MC’s…. Things that made me cringe…..when Lacey, the women in the relationship is called “little one” and “doll”….who calls anyone that these days??????….and then all the “Shit…Hell…Fuck yeah in the sex scenes….totally turned me off big time!!! The stalker issue just never got off the ground…..the characters were more interested in sex, and more sex and more sex….and then, at last…..Lacey is safe because the stalker has been sorted out!!!! Allright, I am not giving up on this author….I am going to persevere and read book #2. Who knows I might just get into the series!!!!!

This book has m/f; m/m; and m/m/f scenes that are very detailed. This author is very descriptive throughout the book, including the sights and smells. She made me feel as if I was there in vivid color. I loved the emotions! Oh MY! The first few pages had me choked up. Then throughout the entire book I could feel Mason, Tyler and Lacie’s emotions which were so strong! LOVED IT! Highly recommended!

I loved, loved Night is Darkest, it takes a really good book for me to say that. At the time I first read NID, reading about committed menages, BDSM and m/m was fairly new to me, that being so, unless it's written well I still get that kinda ick feeling. *POSSIBLE SPOILER* I didn't get it at all with NID and the scene where she took them both at once for the first time was beautiful as was the scene where Ty was able to love Mason for the 1st time. I will read more of this series as I enjoy menage books, I just hope that they improve a little.

Geeez, what kind of self-professed lover of menage has never read a book by Jayne Rylon? Ha, ha, I don't know, because I just popped my cherry!!! So, woven throughout the completely OTT someone-is-after-the heroine plot, there was a ton of hot and kinky sex. And. . . that about sums it up. ;)

Friends to lovers is always a sweet read. When the friends are also your older brother's best friends, things can get sticky. When you want two men, it can get even sticker. (no pun intended) Ty and Mason are pretty hawt in this story. I liked when they got it on. Somehow, I already forgot the girl's name. :/ The menage sex in here is good. It is a mmf which is my preference. The plot of this story was easy to guess. The villians were also easy too. I am not sure if that is because Ms. Rylon made Friends to lovers is always a sweet read. When the friends are also your older brother's best friends, things can get sticky. The story could have actually been cut shorter. A few of the parts dragged. Overall, it was smexy read even if I think double pentration for a recent virgin is not really plausible. One in the ass and one in the pussy a bit more believable which was odd because Ms. Rylon made it more of a big deal.

3.5-4 stars This was a pretty good story. I liked Lacey, Tyler and Mason and their story was interesting with a lot of sex. Lacey is a nurse and a nice woman. She was living with her brother who was a police officer, as they were very close since their parents died years before. When Lacey finds out about her brother's death she doesn't take it well. She's been in love with his 2 BFFs, Mason and Tyler, since they were all kids but they've never responded to any of her attempts to be with them. Mas 3.5-4 stars This was a pretty good story. Mason and Tyler grew up together and have always been close. They also have had a tendency to share women ever since they first started noticing women. They've been attracted to Lacey since she was way too young for that type of attention but stayed away from her when she got older. Partially this was because her brother warned them off and partially because Mason had to convince himself it was alright. Mason and Tyler developed a m/m relationship over the years but have kept it strictly under wraps because Mason's afraid of the backlash their relationship might unleash. The story begins with Lacey finding out about her brother dying and going through the funeral. She's kind of out of it and feeling very alone even with Mason and tyler there for her. After the funeral she needs some comfort and tried to get the men to be with her. They don't want to because they're sure she'll regret it later and then they'd lose her friendship as well. Lacey on the other hand, wants them both badly and is so steeped in loss that she can't stand for Tyler and Mason to leave her. Things get a bit messed up because Mason is convinced that Lacey can't deal with him and Tyler being in a m/m thing together and also they tend to like BDSM play and they think it's too rough for Lacey. He doesn't believe they can make a true threesome relationship work and so is determined not even to try. This causes some drama for the three and Lacey is put through more emotional pain by all the crap before things get worked out. Eventually, Tyler and Lacey get Mason onboard but there's some definite drama before the three are solidly together. While Lacey, Tyler and Mason are trying to work out their relationship some unusual things happen that make them think that something about Lacey's brother's death wasn't as they thought it should be. There seems to be a possibility of something more going on and they need to find out what it is. Especially when whoever is causing the issues seems to be out to hurt Lacey. The men investigate and they have sex. A bit more investigating and more sex, and more sex, and more sex... To be honest, I liked the sex scenes, they were hot, but there were times when the story got so much into the sex that I forgot what the heck was happening in the action plot by the time we got back to it. But, during the many sex scenes we also get to see some growth in the threesome's relationship and enjoy them getting closer and working out some of their personal issues. I actually thought that the action plot was very good but just was overshadowed at times by the romance (sex) plot. There's some drama and unexpected danger to be dealt with before the end but the threesome manage to get through things alright and come together to start on their HEA. This was a very enjoyable story. Lacey, Mason and Tyler were all likable characters. I got a bit frustrated with Mason's issues but I guess they were needed for the story and I'm glad they weren't drug out through the whole story. I thought the action plot was well done but overshadowed by the romance plot at some points. Overall, I thought the story was pretty good and I'll probably read more in the series down the road. I'd recommend this story. :D * note - I listened to the audio version of this and the narrator did a very good job.

3 stars. A lot of hot, sensual, explicit sex scenes (two men and a woman). The story is more of an afterthought but ok. REVIEWER’S OPINION: Most of the story is about the ménage a trois relationship of Mason, Tyler and Lacey. The sex scenes are arousing and very good. Don’t expect a fully fleshed out suspense story. However, the story is good enough to add some emotional elements and background for the relationships. Most of the mystery and suspense story is told in the last four chapters. It is told after the fact rather than shown. It would have been better to “show” characters’ thoughts, motives and actions during events happening in the past. This was nineteen chapters developing a relationship and sex, and then all of a sudden we need to tell a story and resolve it in order to finish the book. I had problems with some of the bad guys’ motives and actions. I was confused. I had unanswered questions at the end. But that’s ok, because this is an erotic book. I’m trying not to hold it to other standards. Just letting you know what’s not there. I had a minor problem with dialogue. The pet name “little one” might have been ok but it was overused. And frequently calling out “love you” during sex seemed a little off. For more than half the book, my feelings were 4 stars. But after I finished it, they dropped due to plot weaknesses. STORY BRIEF: Rob is Lacey’s older brother. Their parents died in a car crash years ago. Rob, Mason and Tyler have been best friends for years. They are cops. Mason and Tyler like sharing a woman and also like sex with each other. Rob asked them to stay away from his sister Lacey, so they did. But they have always desired her, and she has desired them. The story begins with Rob being killed. Mason and Tyler comfort Lacey. Their comfort turns into sex at Lacey’s request. The cops are investigating Rob’s death as well as someone who has begun threatening Lacey. DATA: Story length: 253 pages. Swearing language: strong, including religious swear words. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 9. Estimated number of sex scene pages: 72. Copyright: 2010. Genre: erotic romantic suspense.

Some books are so poorly written that reading them is an act of self-degradation. This is one of those books. I downloaded the book for free via BookBub and thought, "Why not give it a chance? It's free." It was not free. I paid with my dignity and self-respect.

2.5 Stars While the sex scenes were hot, I don’t think it was enough to carry the rest of the book. I guessed early on who the “bad guy” was. It wasn’t too hard to do. There was a lot of flowery dialogue coming from the men. And something about Lacey rubbed me the wrong way and I never really connected with her. Also, the timeline was weird. There were inconsistencies as well.

Rating: 4.5 / 5 stars I've been wanting to read this book for ages. I saw it while poking around the Samhain website one day and was intrigued because it was a bi-menage story (which I love). But it was ebook and I wasn't reading many of those then so I decided to wait the 5 months or so until it came out in paperback. I had very high expectations coming into this book, and I worried I'd be let down, but thankfully, this was a very good book. I enjoyed it a lot. I had very high expectations coming into this book, and I worried I'd be let down, but thankfully, this was a very good book. I enjoyed it a lot. Series Note: No series known, but I hope that Rylon continues on and writes books for some of the secondary characters.....actually I just checked out Rylon's website, and there will be a sequel featuring a secondary character :) ((titled "Razor's Edge"...if you read the book, you'll understand why a story for Razor is totally necessary)). Summary: Lacey Daughtry is devastated one night when her brother's two best friends and fellow cops arrive at her door to tell her that her brother has been brutally murdered in the line of duty. Her brother was all she had left in the world. Except for Mason and Tyler. Lacey turns to the two sexy cops for comfort. She's wanted them for years but they've always rebuffed her advances. Now, when she so desperately needs them, they finally give in. But Mason and Tyler have a secret that no one knows. That behind closed doors, the two are actually lovers. Tyler has no issues with there situation and wants to tell Lacey, but Mason is in denial. None of them are sure if they could find a way to make a three way relationship work. Figuring it out, though, may have to wait because Lacey's brother's killer may have their eyes set on Lacey as well. Review: This book had the potential to be my dream book: erotic romance, romantic suspense, and a bi-menage HEA all wrapped up in one package. What more could I ask for than to have all my favorite things in one book? The book came close to living up to being my dream book. A few improvements here and there and it might have made it. I loved the dynamics between the characters in this book. You've got nice girl Lacey (with a bit of a bad girl edge), and her brother's two best friends, cops Mason and Tyler. Lacey has wanted both men for ages, and they've wanted here. But she's been too young and her brother told his friends to stay away from her. Now her brother has been murdered and Lacey needs them. The emotion in the beginning of this book was brutal. It's so sad and tragic and the author really had me feeling what the characters were feeling. It had me misty eyed more than once. Then when the guys finally give in to what Lacey wants...super sexy. I liked the way it played out, with one of the guys giving in, the other holding out. And Lacey sensing she was missing something big going on with the two guys. It was a satisfying three-way romance all around. Great chemistry between them, hot sex, and a nice HEA. I did wish there was a little more focus on the romantic element between Tyler and Mason. I wanted to know more about this secret relationship between them. And I wanted more of the good stuff between them ;) But it was still satisfying the way it was. Overall I did think there could have been a little better character portraits painted. Readers like to have a clear picture of who they are reading about and I felt like I was missing that somewhat...not totally but some bits and pieces. Also, the book never tells you where this story takes place, other than the midwest somewhere. I wanted to have an idea of what type of place I was reading about! There was also the suspense angle of the book. It wasn't quite as prominent as I'd hoped it would be, but it was still a good story aspect and it added some depth to a story that could have easily devolved into a sex fest. The plot has some nice twists and surprises in it (though I did guess them fairly early on). But you get a nice climactic finish that was pretty satisfying for a romantic suspense fan. And the bad guy turns out to be pretty damn diabolical. The ending does leave you wondering a bit about a secondary character named Razor. I wanted to know what happened to him, so I was happy to see on Rylon's website that he will have his own book, coming out in ebook in November 2010. I will definitely be reading it! So all in all? Pretty damn good book. I'm glad I got the chance to read it finally! WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex and language, m/f sex (oral, anal), m/m sex (oral, anal) and m/f/m sex (bi, oral, anal), and a lot of other kinky stuff, but I forgot to write this warning when I wrote the review and now I can't remember what all was in the book sex wise ;)

Why I didn't rate this higher is because of the plot. While it does have a plot, it takes up so few pages that the rest is all sex. There's nothing wrong with sex scenes, but when they take up the entire book, I am left bored. I enjoy a good plot. It seems like the author invested the least amount of her efforts into plot development and plot tension. As it was, it seemed like the characters cared more about sex than what was going on. It's not that the plot idea was bad, it was that we barely spend any time in the plot. It takes up the least amount of pages and is spread very thin across the entire book. I love solving a good mystery. The author didn't provide us with a mystery, not really. Yes, there is the element of "Who done it?" but, after a lot of sex, it skips right into "I'll plant a big, obnoxious clue right here that you can't miss," and like three pages later, "Here's the culprit! Bet you didn't catch my clue, right?" Poor plot execution. If you're going to advertise that your book contains mystery, then at least do it right. Something that made me cringe was when the female lead was called, "little one," during sex and throughout the entire book. In my mind, little one is reserved for small children, right along with "baby." Yes, I cringe when couples call each other 'baby.' Something else that annoyed me was the shouting of "Hell, yeah," "Shit, yeah," and "fuck, yeah" during sex. It was repeated A LOT. Unless you're looking to just read about sex, then I don't recommend this book to you. The plot isn't that fulfilling.

My Review: This is a hot, full-length erotic read. It is also a pretty decent suspense novel. For me, though, the appeal of the novel came from the relationship between these three. Mason and Tyler have been best friends for ages. They have also been lovers, but no one realizes that besides them. They were brought together through their mutual love for Lacey, but as the younger sister as one of their other friends, it was a hands-off policy for her. They have also been lovers, but no one realizes that besides them. They were brought together through their mutual love for Lacey, but as the younger sister as one of their other friends, it was a hands-off policy for her. But when her older brother is murdered, Lacey needs the comfort from his and her friends and these guys step up. The issue is...they think that Lacey is an innocent and want to keep it that way. They don't want to expose her to their wild ways, so the guys break off their romance so that Tyler can romance Lacey. They don't realize that her fantasies and emotions fully involve BOTH of them. In the midst of all that complication is the search for Rob's murderer and a prisoner up for parole who is making Lacey's life miserable. That's where the suspense comes in....and it was entertaining, if not quite as good on the suspense as I hoped. That was probably what knocked the rating down the most on this book. The suspense just didn't quite live up to what I'd hoped. But overall, this was a HIGHLY entertaining and erotic read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am so glad that I already have books #2 and #3 on my Kindle waiting for me to find time to read them. I promise that will happen SOON!!!

From the prologue, I was intrigued. It's weird sometimes how tragedy and grief can start something new and amazing. Lacey has lost her parents and now her brother. All she has is Mason and Tyler, her brothers best friends. Thing is..she wants to be more than friends with both of them and they share the same feelings. I was excited for some threesome lovin' and boy did I get it! This was the hottest MMF book I've read! And the mystery behind her brothers death still keeps you on your toes. I like how the author didn't take that away from the book and just make it about sex. I wouldn't have minded but still... ;) The end, was crazy. I can't believe who was behind her brothers death. Lacey got her justice and her men. This was the first book I've read from this author and it won't be the last! Definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves MMF books w some suspense and mystery.

4.25 stars I've read one other title by Jayne Rylon, but this book really stood out for me. The beginning especially had me desperately turning the pages because the raw emotion and care from the heroes was so poignant and wrenching. I loved how alpha both heroes were, because showed such concern and took such good care of the heroine. Tyler was my favorite, since he was such a sweetheart. I'm glad we got to see the softer side of Mason later on, too! If you love hot romance packed with emotion, I'm pretty sure you'll love this book.

I loved this book because it seemed real to me.... so often writers write of menage or bDsm and it isn't real there is no way that it could ever actually happen in real life, but the emotions and confusion that is in this book and the challenge of tracking down truths and seperating them from the lies is awe inspiring. I enjoyed when the characters played around becuse so many of the scenarios I wouldn't have ever dreamed of voicing with a partner or partners but they gave me some courage and hav I loved this book because it seemed real to me.... so often writers write of menage or bDsm and it isn't real there is no way that it could ever actually happen in real life, but the emotions and confusion that is in this book and the challenge of tracking down truths and seperating them from the lies is awe inspiring. "When the tip of his cock nudged the tissue that proclaimed her innocence" and "The last barrier between them ruptured" are the reasons for my rating. For FUCKS sake there is no cherry to be popped, there is no barrier to rupture, no tissue making you a virgin. If she has tissue like that then she needs SURGERY to create an opening, and would have likely noticed it long before now since you know, she wouldn't have been able to menstruate. http://www.fustany.com/en/beauty/heal... The sex scenes aren't very good and sometimes are described in a somewhat gross way. Be prepared for some over cheesy scenes as well. I don't even know if I should address the plot, or what there is of one. This book clearly wasn't written to be much else then some steamy erotica. (Which it didn't even do very well in.) Also I feel like I'm reading a story written by a lonely lady with 12 cats. Other than that I love mmf and there were a couple moments I liked. Not much though. Loved this story. Even though Lacey's brother Rob has already been killed when the story begins, the reader learns what kind of man he was through the story and it is so sad that he died so young. Loved all the characters in this story and Mason's struggle to come to terms with his sexuality. My only complaint was I just didn't totally see why the bad person was the way they were. That was a little confusing to me.

Wow this one is so much longer compared to the other books I've been reading of hers. Not bad at all. Ty was wonderful. Mason was a bit controlling for my taste. Lacey wasn't unlikable... The plot was alright. Lot more of it than her other series which was nice. The writing... well, it did occasionally feel repetitive in regards to the feelings and talking about the feelings or thinking about the feelings... But all in all.. not bad.

Whay can you say about Jayne Rylon's books.....HOT HOT HOT! If you are a fan of M/M/F, get ready. The sexy duo of Mason and Tyler will knock you socks off. They are struggling with their relationship when the kid sister (Lacey) of their recently dead best friend and fellow officer (Rob)is thrown into the mix. There is plenty of sex, DP, anal and fun games! *wink wink* There is also a mystery and action/adventure to thicken the plot and add to the lure of this book. 5 stars!

3.5 stars. This book was just ok for me. Lots of sex but horrible dialogue during the scenes. It had a plot - not well developed or completely believeable. The characters were mostly lovable but overcame difficulties too quickly. If you are looking for a book filled with erotic threesomes, then this book is for you. If you are looking for a book with an engaging, suspenseful plot, then maybe not so much.

Just a bit too sappy and predictable for me. I can't stand these MFM book where the woman just hangs the moon for the men and if she doesn't orgasm all damn day they want to cry and moan in agony over their inability to please her. I mean yes, I would love that life and frankly all woman deserve it. Give it to me now. But reading about it for over 150 pages gets annoying after awhile. Maybe it's just me.
